n
behalf of
the Board, I hope all members had a Merry Christmas and I extend best wishes
for a Happy
and Prosperous New Year. When
you return to the golf season in April or May you will see any number of
changes, from the expansion of the pond on number 4 to the new maintenance
site off number 7 green. All
renovations and improvements are in line with the Brad Booth five-year
strategic plan. Cart paths are
being extended around the course and improvements to the clubhouse will be a
welcomed site. Hopefully the
winter will be kind and we can have a great season for 2007.
The
Board of Directors has been preparing the 2007 Budget with the emphasis on a
balanced budget, not an easy accomplishment in this day and age. Negotiations
are on going to acquire Marshall’s inventory.
An independent audit will be done on remaining inventory and the
acquisition will take place early in 2007. The Power Cart Lease that we took
over from Marshall has been extended from the one remaining year to two years.
This will result in a saving for us of $5,290 in 2007. Please
support your club by attending the Semi-
Annual Meeting of the Members of the Westfield Golf and Country
Club Inc. to be held on Saturday,
January 20, 2007 at the hour of 10:30
a.m., at the Westfield Golf and Country Club. MANAGER’S
NOTES by
Jim Balcomb
t is with great pleasure that I accepted the offer to become your General Manager last month. The Westfield Golf & Country Club is an absolutely beautiful course that we can all be proud of. In fact, that is one of the reasons why Anne Marie and I chose to move to Westfield in 1998. The
opportunity to lead a dedicated team to continually make improvements to the
course, our service and indeed, your entire experience at the Club is a
privilege. Most
of my first month has been working with the Board in developing the 2007
Operating and Capital budgets. I am excited about the current pond expansion
project on #4 and the new maintenance facility. I also look forward to sharing
with you other proposed improvements when we present the 2007 Operating and
Capital budgets at the Semi-Annual Meeting. I
would like to express my sincere thanks to Noel Wittrien for giving me a
2-week crash course in the General Manager’s job prior to Gay’s and his
departure south. Although
I was fortunate to have met many of the Members at the two Christmas dinners
at the Club, I look forward to meeting you all. Please drop in to say
“hello” at any time. With the weather that we have been enjoying so far
this winter, you just might want to bring your clubs with you! PRO
